Good architecture can improve multiple areas of life dramatically. You may not think it matters a lot, but we can give you a few reasons why it does.
Having good architecture can improve the rate at which information gets transferred. Good architects make sure the building has a nice ‘flow’ so people don’t have to keep going back and forth every few minutes. This, in turn, improves the flow of people, information, and can improve overall efficiency for a company. Even on a macro scale, excellent design can improve the flow of traffic in a city, prevent traffic congestion, and make inaccessible areas accessible.
The architecture also sets the mood for the entire office. Think about it. Imagine working in an office where all they have are simple white walls, with tall cubicles, and minimal opportunity to interact with people or even look at them. Doesn’t that sound depressing?
Instead, imagine an office like Google’s, where you have a slide to go down floors, sofas, bean bags, and a colourful open interior at every level, allowing employees ample opportunity to interact, and talk to each other. You instantly know which one you’d rather work at.
You can do a lot more with a lot less. Read ‘Ideas For a Futuristic Home’. In both cases, we can do a lot more with only a fixed amount of space. This can allow us to make more sustainable homes for the future.
